The new year has started.
There are weddings to plan, high school and college graduations, spring breaks, and family reunions! And there is no better celebratory vacation than a cruise, especially for large groups!
During your planning process, you will just want keep in mind a frequently asked question: What are the minimum age requirements for a cruise vacation?
Most cruise line age requirements are similar, but some do vary, so be sure to review the policies with your cruise guide prior to deposit!
Minimum Age to Reserve a Cabin:
- You MUST be 21 years old to book a cruise. A guest’s age is established upon the first date of sailing.
- If you are under the age of 21, you must be in a cabin with someone that is at least 21 years or older.
- NOTE: With Carnival Cruise Line, if you are under the age of 21, you must be in a cabin with someone 25 years or older (e.g. if you are 20 years old, you cannot sail with someone 21, they must be 25 or older).
Possible Exceptions to the Minimum Age Requirement:
- Marriage– if both passengers are under 21, but can provide a marriage certificate, many cruise lines will offer an exception. You must bring your marriage certificate along with your birth certificate and/or passport.
- Active Duty US or Canadian Military– if passengers are currently enlisted in the military, many lines with allow passage. You must provide proper identification indicating you are active duty.
- Family Groups Booking Multiple Staterooms–with most lines this age limit will be waived for children sailing with their parents or guardians in connecting or nearby staterooms.
