Royal Caribbean does not allow guests to bring onboard any type of alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. If guests do attempt to bring beverages onboard, they will be confiscated and not returned to the guest.
I hear clients say all the time, “I will just sneak it on.” I offer you this bit of advice before you decide to give that a try, don’t risk it! Royal Caribbean is very serious about their beverage policy. So much so that if they catch you trying to ‘smuggle’ alcohol onboard they can deny you boarding at your expense.
How much would that stink for someone about to start their vacation and turned away because of alcohol they tried to bring onboard in a Listerine bottle??
You are able to purchase alcohol while in port. The prices can be much less than what you find at home, and most often duty-free. When you head back to the ship, you will turn your alcohol purchase in at the gang way and it will be labeled, stored and returned to you on the last day of your cruise.
Okay, so I’ve told you what you can’t do but what can you do to save money and enjoy your favorite alcoholic, or non-alcoholic, beverages??
For those lovers of carbonated beverages, Royal Caribbean does offer an Unlimited Soda Package. This package provides you a souvenir cup that you can fill with limitless quantities of soda ordered in any of the bars, lounges, dining rooms and even on their private islands (BEWARE: it does NOT include sodas from the mini-fridge in your stateroom!).
The cost is just $6.00 per person per day for guests over 18, and $4.00 for children 17 and younger. You are unable to purchase this package for individual days–it must be purchased for the duration of the cruise, so to take full advantage you should purchase on the first day.
Royal Caribbean does offer other beverage packages for purchase–juice, water and wine. Purchase any of these and you can save up to 25% off the regular cost!
- The juice package includes Minute Maid juice in Apple, Orange or Ruby Red Grapefruit. You can buy the juice in quantities of 6, 8, or 12 of the 15 oz. bottles.
- If you prefer bottled water, the Evian water package may be the way to go. The package consists of 8, 12, 18 or 24 of the 1 liter bottles. If you pre-order this water package online they will be in your stateroom on the day you request. If purchased onboard it could take up to 24 hours to be delivered.
- For the wine enthusiast, Royal Caribbean offers a wine package (Diamond, Platinum, or Gold) that you can purchase a pre-determined number of bottles and save 25% off of normal wine listing prices.
Select from delicious dining options, wine and beverage packages, or fun excursions and make advanced reservations using Royal Caribbean’s Pre-Cruise Planner.
Packages can be reserved online 90 to 4 days before your sail date. If you are sailing in less than 4 days, you will need to make your reservations onboard.
Save money the smart way, preorder your favorite beverage and enjoy your cruise!
